My name is Jennie. I'm a wife and a mother. I have been married to the man of my dreams, Trever, for 9 wonderful years. We have 5 beautiful daughters who fill our lives with joy and excitement. We just had our 6th child. Our son Caleb.

I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Placenta Accreta along with Placenta Previa. Accreta is a condition where the placenta attaches to the scar tissue in the uterus. It will often continue to grow to deeper tissue (increta) and even through the uterus attaching to other organs(percreta). I ended up having an 11 hour surgery, including a hystorectomy, and bladder repair. I received 7 units of blood and blood parts. (This is a lot of blood loss for my surgeons, but minimal blood loss to those who are not as experienced in these deliveries. I spent 36 hours in the ICU after surgery. I have also had many other complications afterwards including another minor surgery 2 weeks later. These complications are somewhat normal for the type of surgery I had.

I had a team of specialists doing my surgery. Obgyns, Gyno-oncologists, trauma surgeons, urologists and anesthesiologists. This team has specialized in techniques helping with minimal blood loss. Those with accreta , loose large amounts of blood because the placenta cannot detach naturally at delivery.

My goal is to help save women's lives by giving this terrible condition a voice. So many are ignorant to its fatal attack. Doctors and women alike, need to be educated about Accreta. Many have never even heard of it. The numbers are on the rise because of so many women choosing to have c-sections when it isn't necessary. Not all women can avoid it, but many can. Please help me give Accreta a voice, by sharing the information in this blog. (There are numerous posts with information on Accreta as well as the Accreta team who took such great care of me.)

Kate update

Well, our dear friend Kate delivered today. She did great! She did have to get some blood parts pumped in, but made it through like a champ. Her baby Eliot was 5lbs 8oz. She was 34 weeks along. He is on cpap but hanging in there. She finally got to hold him tonight. She looks great in her pictures!

I love how I have never met these woman and still think of them as dear friends. I feel like I know them better than most. I get so attached to them and their stories. They are amazing woman.

I took Caleb into the doctor last week and got him on some reflux meds. He is doing so much better with them. He is almost 13 lbs! Can you believe it? He was laying on my bed tonight and we were just chatting, he bursted into full blown laughter. Oh it was so cute! He is such a precious little man. I just cant get enough of him. He is so happy all the time. Very rarely cries unless he is hungry, needs a diaper change or just wants to be held. Then just seconds after getting it, he is all smiles again. Oh I am so in love with him!

I am doing well. Just enjoying life surrounded by my babies. I am so sad to have school start soon. I love the no schedule, hang out with my kids time that we have been having. We are having a fun summer.

I still get frequent leg and arm pain. Nothing seems to releave it except for turning them into a punching bag. Apparently this pain is a possible side effect of having a hystorectomy. I have been askin around to others who have had one and they have said they have had the pain as well. I thought it was just bed rest but most of the others I have talked to, were not on bed rest. Weird huh? Anyway, the pain is pretty bad, but it comes and goes. Im thankful it isnt constant. My scar around my belly button is still realy tight as well. Im not sure why it is so much tighter there, but it really hurts. It just stretches and pulls. Ick! Anyway, other than that, I feel great. Im cooking and baking again. I even did the bumper cars with my kids the other day.  Its so nice to be able to do normal things again. Soon ill be able to exercise more and i am hoping that if I lose some weight, my incision wont stretch so much.

Life is good. I am so thankful to be alive. God is good!
