My name is Jennie. I'm a wife and a mother. I have been married to the man of my dreams, Trever, for 9 wonderful years. We have 5 beautiful daughters who fill our lives with joy and excitement. We just had our 6th child. Our son Caleb.

I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Placenta Accreta along with Placenta Previa. Accreta is a condition where the placenta attaches to the scar tissue in the uterus. It will often continue to grow to deeper tissue (increta) and even through the uterus attaching to other organs(percreta). I ended up having an 11 hour surgery, including a hystorectomy, and bladder repair. I received 7 units of blood and blood parts. (This is a lot of blood loss for my surgeons, but minimal blood loss to those who are not as experienced in these deliveries. I spent 36 hours in the ICU after surgery. I have also had many other complications afterwards including another minor surgery 2 weeks later. These complications are somewhat normal for the type of surgery I had.

I had a team of specialists doing my surgery. Obgyns, Gyno-oncologists, trauma surgeons, urologists and anesthesiologists. This team has specialized in techniques helping with minimal blood loss. Those with accreta , loose large amounts of blood because the placenta cannot detach naturally at delivery.

My goal is to help save women's lives by giving this terrible condition a voice. So many are ignorant to its fatal attack. Doctors and women alike, need to be educated about Accreta. Many have never even heard of it. The numbers are on the rise because of so many women choosing to have c-sections when it isn't necessary. Not all women can avoid it, but many can. Please help me give Accreta a voice, by sharing the information in this blog. (There are numerous posts with information on Accreta as well as the Accreta team who took such great care of me.)

I'm free!!

Howdy ya'll! Guess what... OUCH!! But guess what else... My drain is out!! It hurt like nobody's business, but it's out. I'm not sure why this one hurt. The only thing I can think of is that it was in so long. The other one didn't hurt at all, it just felt creepishly weird. Everyone should feel that feeling sometime in their lives. Seriously it felt so funny coming out. The first one that is. This one, not so much. Ouch!

We had a very chaotic morning this morning. I had a sitter lined up, school kids taken care of, when all of a sudden my little 3 year old unloaded her dinner onto my floor.  I didn't want to pass the flu onto anyone else's kids, so I started to panick. My options were dwindling quickly. There were so many extra random reasons why I couldn't get help for this or that. So I shouted out to my Facebook pals for advice. My brain seriously doesn't put two and two together these days, so I needed options.i was overwhelmed by the response of people willing to help out even with taking in sick kids. I can't tell you what that meant to me. I felt so special.

We had it all planned out and we were about to leave, when we realized our car keys were missing. We searched all over the place.   We couldn't use my keys because I randomly had the feeling to put them in the glove box when I was getting out of the car to stay the night with Caleb. I figured, just in case Trever needed them, he would have them. Though putting them there, was useless of course. I called my friend Jennifer and she came to my rescue. She took me into Phoenix. She took me to my urology appointment. Then dropped me off at the hospital. I hung with Caleb for a bit then rode the shuttle to my wound care appointment. Almost 2 1/2 hours later I finished up there. Yeah...I was with nurses or the doctor all of fifteen minutes of that time. But good news is, I don't have to pack the wound any more! He said it is healing beautifully well and it should be good to just let it heal the rest on its own! Sweet! Two giant steps towards healing today! After that appointment, my sweet mom picked me up and took me home.

As for my kids today...Trever stayed home and worked from home. Then my dear friend picked the girls up and took them to school. My sister in law took my kindergardener for the afternoon. My sister picked up my 2nd grader. And to top off my day, my sweet friends came and cleaned my house while I was gone. Man oh man I am so blessed! Thank you everyone for all of your love and support and sweet acts of service
