My name is Jennie. I'm a wife and a mother. I have been married to the man of my dreams, Trever, for 9 wonderful years. We have 5 beautiful daughters who fill our lives with joy and excitement. We just had our 6th child. Our son Caleb.

I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Placenta Accreta along with Placenta Previa. Accreta is a condition where the placenta attaches to the scar tissue in the uterus. It will often continue to grow to deeper tissue (increta) and even through the uterus attaching to other organs(percreta). I ended up having an 11 hour surgery, including a hystorectomy, and bladder repair. I received 7 units of blood and blood parts. (This is a lot of blood loss for my surgeons, but minimal blood loss to those who are not as experienced in these deliveries. I spent 36 hours in the ICU after surgery. I have also had many other complications afterwards including another minor surgery 2 weeks later. These complications are somewhat normal for the type of surgery I had.

I had a team of specialists doing my surgery. Obgyns, Gyno-oncologists, trauma surgeons, urologists and anesthesiologists. This team has specialized in techniques helping with minimal blood loss. Those with accreta , loose large amounts of blood because the placenta cannot detach naturally at delivery.

My goal is to help save women's lives by giving this terrible condition a voice. So many are ignorant to its fatal attack. Doctors and women alike, need to be educated about Accreta. Many have never even heard of it. The numbers are on the rise because of so many women choosing to have c-sections when it isn't necessary. Not all women can avoid it, but many can. Please help me give Accreta a voice, by sharing the information in this blog. (There are numerous posts with information on Accreta as well as the Accreta team who took such great care of me.)

Prayer Works

I'm sorry I have been missing in action the past few days. I have been so preoccupied with Jenifer and her surgery that I haven't wanted to do much of anything. Seriously, the day of her surgery, Trever and I were very emotional and we were checking Facebook and her blog every few minutes just praying that she would survive the surgery.  It was a pretty intense surgery. It lasted about 11hours or so. Her lungs were struggling a little and they still had more to do, so they let her rest for a while and started surgery again on Saturday morning. Within the first 8 hours of surgery she had already received 76 units of blood! It is an amazing miracle that she is still with us. She was still too swollen to sew her all the way up, so they did that yesterday morning I believe. Here is her blog address if you want to catch up on the details. http://toddnjenifermoss.blogspot.com/ She was able to get out of bed yesterday. Her baby Ben is doing well. He was only on the cpap for not too long. She has had a really rough week, but the band of prayers has kept her alive. Heavens hand has engulfed her and protected her. Please keep your prayers coming in her behalf.

It's amazing how you can feel so connected to someone who you have never officially met. We have Facebook chatted and blogged back and forth but that's it. I truly feel like we are kindred spirits. She could totally be thinking that I am a crazy stalker. Lol. Watching her go through this has been very therapeutic for Trever and I. We have another gal who just found us who will be delivering the next few weeks. Ill get you all acquainted with her shortly. When I read her email I said to Trever, uh oh I am going to be a basket case again in a few weeks.

Since my girls have been in swim lessons, I have been able to get in the pool and exercise lately. It has been so good for me to build muscle without the strain on my abdomen. I like to tred water and work my arms and legs. I even worked with the girls jumping in and swimming to the side today while treading water. I have jello legs and earns right now and will surely feel it tomorrow. It's so worth it though. I love sore muscles these days, when I know for sure it's just muscles building and not something bad. It's hard to tell sometimes. I'm excited to be able to continue building my strength back. I keep thinking about Dori on finding Nemo. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.....

We should be getting our van on Thursday. He is really taking good care of us and giving us a few upgrades that we wanted but didn't need. I am so thankful for the blessings that surround that whole situation of buying and selling etc.

Well, I have a couple kiddos needing mommy so ill sign off. We should have some info on media covering our story soon. They have had a few set backs but are working on it. Please pray that they decide to cover it. We need to give Accreta a voice and that is one of our best options. There. Are women and doctors out there ignorant to this life threatening condition. We really need to raise awareness.

  2. HiI thought I would send out a quick update since I got some "answers to prayer" today! Baby looks great! I go back in to the hospital on Friday (and Saturday) to get steroid shots to help prepare lil Ezekiel for early delivery. They r doing an MRI to determine the severity/location of the accreta, and then they (4 or 5 doctors/surgeons) will go forward with the planned c-section/hysterectomy sometime after I'm 34 weeks (next Wednesday)! My doctor is allowing me to stay awake during delivery and possibly during surgery (if I can remain calm and keep my blood pressure stable) which is a huge answered prayer! God has been giving me more and more peace with each passing day and I can't wait to meet this lil guy! Please continue to pray for a safe delivery and for wisdom for the doctors! GOD IS SO GOOD!!! :)
