My name is Jennie. I'm a wife and a mother. I have been married to the man of my dreams, Trever, for 9 wonderful years. We have 5 beautiful daughters who fill our lives with joy and excitement. We just had our 6th child. Our son Caleb.

I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Placenta Accreta along with Placenta Previa. Accreta is a condition where the placenta attaches to the scar tissue in the uterus. It will often continue to grow to deeper tissue (increta) and even through the uterus attaching to other organs(percreta). I ended up having an 11 hour surgery, including a hystorectomy, and bladder repair. I received 7 units of blood and blood parts. (This is a lot of blood loss for my surgeons, but minimal blood loss to those who are not as experienced in these deliveries. I spent 36 hours in the ICU after surgery. I have also had many other complications afterwards including another minor surgery 2 weeks later. These complications are somewhat normal for the type of surgery I had.

I had a team of specialists doing my surgery. Obgyns, Gyno-oncologists, trauma surgeons, urologists and anesthesiologists. This team has specialized in techniques helping with minimal blood loss. Those with accreta , loose large amounts of blood because the placenta cannot detach naturally at delivery.

My goal is to help save women's lives by giving this terrible condition a voice. So many are ignorant to its fatal attack. Doctors and women alike, need to be educated about Accreta. Many have never even heard of it. The numbers are on the rise because of so many women choosing to have c-sections when it isn't necessary. Not all women can avoid it, but many can. Please help me give Accreta a voice, by sharing the information in this blog. (There are numerous posts with information on Accreta as well as the Accreta team who took such great care of me.)

All Together At Last

My sweet baby boy is home at last! We are so very thankful to have him home. I wondered if this day would ever come. I just love to sit and look at him. He is such a precious angel. I feel so blessed right now. We did really well our first night all together. My oldest got home from Disneyland late last night with grandma. She had a great time. Caleb did well taking his feeds with minimal spit up. His monitor hasn't gone off once either! Such a huge blessing.

I'm beginning to get his routine down. We have to thicken his formula with oatmeal. That constipated him of course, so we have to give him pear juice 3-4 times a day to counter act it. He also gets a multi vitamin because he missed out on two months of nutrients in the womb. Can you believe it?... Today is his due date. He also is on an inhaled steroid twice a day. I have alarms set for his and my meds. I think we've got it set and ready for success.

The doctors want to have follow ups with the pulminologist, gastroenterologist, and speech for a little bit longer. He doesn't have any major complications, they just want to make sure to keep on top of any issues that could arise. He still breathes really fast, which could cause problems if we aren't careful. He also has reflux. Trever and I think that is due to constipation. He spits up so much more when he is bearing down. We are going to try breast feeding when I am off my meds. Hopefully ill have enough motivation to stick with it. I'm not going to put undo pressure on myself though. It's going to be tough to build it back up, but we will try.

Now it is time to pick up the pieces from the last 6 months. Trever is so behind on work. He has pushed off jobs to take me to the doctor, and take care of everything here at home. He is an amazing husband. He is so worried about being able to pay bills and keep on top of everything. He is my superman to say the least. This trial has been the toughest on him for sure.

We got our water shut off today because we kept forgetting to pay the bill. Ugh, I hate when that happens. Then to get it turned back on, $50 reconnect fee. Seriously people. I am not a fan of that company at all. Though, they do provide us with running water ( when I remember to pay my bill, Lol) so, for that I am thankful. We also have a few jobs that we need to send invoices for. You know your life is crazy when you can't remember or find time to sit down and collect money. Ah the joys of being self employed.

K,  sorry about that, just a little stressed with all of the little things that we need to get on top of. But for now, reality can wait a little while longer. I'm going to snuggle with my little man and just keep praying. All of this little stuff is so insignificant. The important stuff that matters, is all taken care of. I'm alive and healing well. My sweet little miracle baby is alive and well and in my arms. I am one very thankful woman.
