My name is Jennie. I'm a wife and a mother. I have been married to the man of my dreams, Trever, for 9 wonderful years. We have 5 beautiful daughters who fill our lives with joy and excitement. We just had our 6th child. Our son Caleb.

I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Placenta Accreta along with Placenta Previa. Accreta is a condition where the placenta attaches to the scar tissue in the uterus. It will often continue to grow to deeper tissue (increta) and even through the uterus attaching to other organs(percreta). I ended up having an 11 hour surgery, including a hystorectomy, and bladder repair. I received 7 units of blood and blood parts. (This is a lot of blood loss for my surgeons, but minimal blood loss to those who are not as experienced in these deliveries. I spent 36 hours in the ICU after surgery. I have also had many other complications afterwards including another minor surgery 2 weeks later. These complications are somewhat normal for the type of surgery I had.

I had a team of specialists doing my surgery. Obgyns, Gyno-oncologists, trauma surgeons, urologists and anesthesiologists. This team has specialized in techniques helping with minimal blood loss. Those with accreta , loose large amounts of blood because the placenta cannot detach naturally at delivery.

My goal is to help save women's lives by giving this terrible condition a voice. So many are ignorant to its fatal attack. Doctors and women alike, need to be educated about Accreta. Many have never even heard of it. The numbers are on the rise because of so many women choosing to have c-sections when it isn't necessary. Not all women can avoid it, but many can. Please help me give Accreta a voice, by sharing the information in this blog. (There are numerous posts with information on Accreta as well as the Accreta team who took such great care of me.)

Due Date

This coming Wednesday May 1 st will be Caleb's due date. Can you believe he is already 8 weeks old? Tonight we got to go visit him for a few minutes. My sweet mother came and helped me organize my kitchen and the bedroom that Caleb will eventually sleep in. Then she took my kids and had a party with them so we could go on a date. We first went to our dear friends house. The McPeaks. Their daughter Emily opened her mission call. She is going to Milan Italy!! We are so excited for her. Congratiolations Emily! You are going to make one fantastic missionary. The people of Italy will be truly blessed to have you.  I am so proud of Emily. She is such a great example to me. As soon as the age of sister missionaries was lowered, she began working on getting everything in order so that she could go. She is such an example of faithfulness and obedience.

After that exciting event, we drove into Phoenix to see our little man. We needed to get home and get our kiddos to bed, so we were only able to stay for about thirty minutes. Just enough time to give him some snuggles and give him his "puff" of inhaled steroids for his lungs. George, his funny nurse was with him tonight. Caleb soaked George tonight with a portion of his dinner. George was also cracking jokes about Caleb falling for the 34 weeker that had the body of a 36 weeker. Hahaha. :) just as we're were about to leave, the sweet doctors came in. There is one with a beautiful accent. We think she may be from South America. We have gotten her name a couple of times, but I keep forgetting it. Amyway, she is usually on days, but she was on tonight. We talked about his episode the other day. I guess a Brady, doesn't necessarily mean that he forgot to breathe. It's just where his heart rate drops. Anyway... She said that before their due date, they can justify the bradys as being just a need for maturity. But when the babies are at term and they are still having them, then they will just send them home on a monitor.

She asked his due date. I said May 1st. Because of his last episode he will be able to come home Tuesday. Since his due date is Wednesday, they will send him home the beginning of next week regardless!! Isn't that fabulous news? She said if he has another one on Sunday even, they may just put him on the monitor Monday. I was so worried that he may just keep having them and end up there for another month or something. I never knew how or when they decide that enough is enough and it's time to go home. I guess the due date is that time frame. So as long as nothing new or crazy ends up coming up...(which is completely possible. In fact I am planning on it because that's how we roll these days) then he will be home the beginning of next week. She totally made my night by telling us that!

Now if I can just pass my cystogram on Monday, life will be fabulous by Wednesday! Again... Just planning on keeping it in for a while longer because that is how things have gone lately. I am so grateful for the glimmer of hope though. Sometimes that is all we have is hope. Sometimes... That's all we need. Here's to a fabulous week next week! Please continue to pray for us. We are so thankful for your prayers. They sustain us and keep us going.
