3 of my favorite women in the world, at least my little world, just came in to see me. I never realized how attached I would get to these wonderful women. They are my nurses. I find myself looking forward to each shift change. Not because I want to see the other nurse go, but I love when they come in at 7:10 every night to give each other the rundown of the day. It's like Christmas each time, waiting to see if I get one of these women as my nurse during their shift. They usually let me sleep in the morning, so I miss the trade off there, but I still look forward to see who brings my breakfast in.
A night nurse that I adore is Val. She is so much fun. We laugh and talk. She is the young women's president in a spanish branch and shares all of their fun mutual nights with me. I get to have her tonight. She walked in and said, so my girls aren't coming tonight? (I had told her Trever and the girls might come tonight. But we decided to have them come a different night instead) I was sad, because she still hasn't met them yet. Though she knows their names and everything. She has become a dear friend!
Saying goodbye tonight (when Val came in) is one of my favorite daytime nurses. Marlene. She is a doll! Always calling me, my dear and sweetheart etc. She checks on me throughout the day making sure all is well and asking if I need anything. She is just so much fun and so sweet.
Another daytime nurse whom I have really bonded with is Cherisse. She even called herself auntie Cherisse while she was talking to Caleb one day. She was putting me on the monitor and telling him something about being good or something like that. It's so cute. I got her hooked on the book series that I had been reading. "The Walk" by Richard Paul Evans.
When new nurses come in to change shifts, they like to brag about the fact that we have five beautiful girls and a sweet little boy on the way. They talk about Caleb as if he is already here. Lol. They say things like how is Caleb today? Is he moving? Is he being good? Etc
I also have another nurse that I adore. Her name is Alma. She is also a sweetheart. And one of the nurses assistants, Kristen is a doll as well.
I paged Marlene today when I woke up from my nap so we could get on the monitor. She was at lunch so another nurse woman came in to see what I needed. She saw the pictures of the family on the wall. She was saying how beautiful they are and how blessed I am. Twenty minutes later we went from how amazing my husband was... She actually high fives his picture twice... To how sad it is that women don't have what I have. She was telling me stories of broken families and homes that she has seen with this line of work. And we talked about how she is single, and she isn't going to marry the next guy that comes along just because she wants to be with someone. She wants to wait and knows that Heavenly Father has someone out there for her that is a good and decent man. She was commenting on the hope that there were more guys out there like Trever. I told her they are well worth the wait!
It's so fun to be able to start out just asking for a drink or whatever and then end up having these long conversations with someone you just met. I only wish I was a better missionary. I wanted so bad to tell this gal today about the plan of happiness and the gospel. But I have never been good with that sort of a thing. Someday...
Life here is fun believe it or not. It's going to be hard to say goodbye to my little world here. I have made so many friends who have made my stay so much more comfortable and bearable. I am excited to go home and get back to life, don't get me wrong... But I am so thankful that the Lord has filled this little world with so many blessings and so many amazing people. I find myself looking forward to my daily visit with the doctors. Even the infamous doctor L is starting to rub off on me. He bugs me sometimes, but for some reason... I know that he is to be part of the picture and part of my care here. So I have decided to roll with it and find the good in him. :-)

My name is Jennie. I'm a wife and a mother. I have been married to the man of my dreams, Trever, for 9 wonderful years. We have 5 beautiful daughters who fill our lives with joy and excitement. We just had our 6th child. Our son Caleb.
I was diagnosed with a rare condition called Placenta Accreta along with Placenta Previa. Accreta is a condition where the placenta attaches to the scar tissue in the uterus. It will often continue to grow to deeper tissue (increta) and even through the uterus attaching to other organs(percreta). I ended up having an 11 hour surgery, including a hystorectomy, and bladder repair. I received 7 units of blood and blood parts. (This is a lot of blood loss for my surgeons, but minimal blood loss to those who are not as experienced in these deliveries. I spent 36 hours in the ICU after surgery. I have also had many other complications afterwards including another minor surgery 2 weeks later. These complications are somewhat normal for the type of surgery I had.
I had a team of specialists doing my surgery. Obgyns, Gyno-oncologists, trauma surgeons, urologists and anesthesiologists. This team has specialized in techniques helping with minimal blood loss. Those with accreta , loose large amounts of blood because the placenta cannot detach naturally at delivery.
My goal is to help save women's lives by giving this terrible condition a voice. So many are ignorant to its fatal attack. Doctors and women alike, need to be educated about Accreta. Many have never even heard of it. The numbers are on the rise because of so many women choosing to have c-sections when it isn't necessary. Not all women can avoid it, but many can. Please help me give Accreta a voice, by sharing the information in this blog. (There are numerous posts with information on Accreta as well as the Accreta team who took such great care of me.)
